Windsport Class A Gas Motorhome Reviews

thor-rvConsidered a “value priced” motorhome, the Windsport Class A Gas Motorhome has been manufactured for over 17 years, most of them under Four Winds which recently consolidated with Thor Industries and is known as Thor RV or also known as Thor Motor Coach (TMC). The TMC Windsport Series has five floorplans with single full-wall slides or a double slide and one floorplan which is a bunkhouse model.

The Windsport motorhomes are built on a Ford Chassis with a gas powered Ford Triton 6.8L V10 engine with 5-speed TorqueShift automatic transmission (with overdrive) and GVWRs of 18,000 lbs. – 22,000 lbs. The five Windsport models range in length from 30’ 10” to 35’ 10”, have interior heights of 82”, and exterior heights of 11’ 11”. The new 2013 models have much more storage and living area and include a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

In 2012 TMC made news in the RV industry when the company designed an area in some of their motorhomes that is specified as a multi-use area. This feature is called the “Adapt-a-Room” and can convert into several different uses: bunk beds, a pet area/bed, a small desk/table area seating two, or a closet/wardrobe area. Each option converts into another, allowing for multi-use.

Recently the popular Windsport and Hurricane Class A motorhomes received an updated look to their exteriors with new HD-MAX exterior packages, previously only available on other TMC motorhome series. These trendy new front and rear caps have an all new color gel-coat body finish and graphics. Now buyers have more choices of colored gel-coat exterior finishes and can save you as much as $8,500 over the full-body paint process.

The new 2013 Thor Class A Windsport is an example of what TMC has to offer. Like most motorhomes, it has some pros and cons. Pros: Setting up is “push button easy”. Cockpit visibility is excellent due to the large panoramic one-piece windshield and the cabs fixed side-light panes. Motorhome Magazine states, “We’d like to see this feature in every motorhome.” Cons: The twin comfort fans are powered from an ignition-controlled circuit instead of coach power and the Windsport does not have a GPS. Altogether though there are lots of benefits in just 33 feet.
