Berkshire Motorhome Is it the Right Choice?

Berkshire Motorhome Reviews by RVReviews.Net

Forest-River-RV
One of five Class A motorhomes produced by Forest River, the Berkshire is all luxury. Reinventing the diesel line of motorhomes to be more of a high-class coach, the Berkshire has been Forest River’s most popular Class A diesel motorhome.

The Berkshire is the namesake of the parent company of Forest River, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., an investment company led by billionaire Warren Buffet. It debuted in 2008 and has been revamped or manufactured with additional floorplans each year since its introduction.

The Berkshire has four floorplans built on a Cummins ISB 340HP Engine and four built on a Cummins ISB-XT 360HP Engine. Each motorhome has an Allison 2500MH 6-Speed automatic transmission and a 5,000 lb. receiver hitch. GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) ranges from 27,910 lbs. to 29,410 lbs. and GCRV (gross combination weight rating) ranges from 32,910 lbs. to 39,410 lbs. These Class A motorhomes have a 100 gallon fuel tank.

The Berkshires are literally a home away from home and all about comfort when it comes to features, amenities and size. Exterior lengths range from 37’9” to 39’9” and the height is 12’2”. The models include four slides on each motorhome, a one-piece panoramic windshield, and wrap-around dash controls which help you manage your motorhome within easy finger-tip reach.

Interiors for the Berkshire convey elegance. Large windows provide natural light, and LED lighting in virtually every room and corner offers plenty of light after dusk. The kitchens are large, no small galleys such as you find in towable RVs. The Berkshire kitchens have a 12 cubic ft. side-by-side refrigerator with an ice maker, a 3-burner recessed cook-top, and a microwave oven. The drawers, not only in the kitchen but throughout the motorhome, have full extension metal guides with ball bearings.

While the Class A Berkshire is on the high end when it comes to pricing, it is also one of the more sophisticated. With a choice of three different décor options, these motorhomes have rich furnishings, from the shades and blinds, to the sofa and sleeping areas. The floorplans let you choose from a queen or king bedroom and bunk beds floorplans are available for those needing extra sleeping areas. The Berkshire Bunkhouse model sleeps up to eight.

The 2013 Berkshire 390BH-60 Diesel Pusher has a MSRP of $247,353, but with 2014 models just around the corner, we found dealers slashing prices such as this motorhome on sale for $179,911.
